Fidel Oteiza

 

Fidel Oteiza  a natural from Chile. He has a Masters in Mathematics Education (1970) and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (1976, Pennsylvania State University, USA)

He has been a faculty at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (1967/75). He is currently a professor at the Department of Math and Communicational Sciences at the School of Sciences at the Universidad Santiago, in Chile. He is the director of the COMENIUS Center for the innovation in education, director of the ZOND USACH Center of the National Project ENLACES. Professor  at  the doctorate program at  the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

He has been a  consultant at the National Experimental University Simon Rodriguez, Caracas – Venezuela (1977/80), at  the International Labor Organization (ILO) (Nov., 1980);  the American States Organization (OEA) (1983/84);  the Regional Education Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREAL/UNESCO) (Ago., 1985);  the United Nations – FAO (1985/86) and at  the Ministry of Education of Chile (1993/96).

He is the co-autor of books, several published articles about distance learning, math and technology, computer science and education.

He is a founder and first president of the Chilean Society of Mathematics  Education, president of the Chilean Association of Computer Science in Education (ACHICE), President of the Interamerican Committee of Math Education (1995/99), and member of the National Council of Mathematics Educations  in the USA.
